In August 1913, under the leadership of Rev. Paul Vaughn, a tent meeting began at Preston and Pearl Streets. This meeting was a great success and by September of the same year, Mt. Zion Baptist Church was officially formed. Over the next 45 years, Mt. Zion moved from the tent on Preston and Pearl Streets to their current location at 1472 Dixie Highway, Louisville, Kentucky.
For the next 73 years, God led the following shepherd to guide Mt. Zion through their journey: Rev. John Spurling (1914-1933), Rev. L.R. Hyatt (1933-1964), Rev. B.S. Ransom (1964-1985). and Rev. Bruce Shaw (1985-1986).
In 1987, the Lord blessed Mt. Zion with a new leader, Darrell K. Nathan. Under Pastor Nathan's leadership, new ministries continue to form, new apostles called, and a growing membership by the blessings of God. Through Pastor Nathan's spiritual guidance, the Church stands willing to do the Lord's work and to receive all who want to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
